Author Information

At American Book Publishing, we're in the business of helping authors print and distribute their books successfully.

We invite and even encourage your sending your manuscript in to us for a free formal professional editor review.

 Submission Instructions

American Book Publishing provides writers the opportunity that most large publishing houses don't, as most specialize now in only celebrity or previously published authors with large followings.

We offer authors the opportunity to sell their writing worldwide. Our titles are available to order in print at online bookstores such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and at chains such as Barnes & Noble, Borders, and independent bookstores brick and mortar stores.

Unfortunately, most new authors turn to vanity, self-publishing propositions, and even scam operations, all of which may charge writers large sums of money and damage their opportunities to succeed with the media. These publishing options provide little or no content or developmental book editing, custom design,  publicity, or distribution capabilities.

We support new authors as well as experienced authors.

We don't accept all the books submitted to us, in fact we select among manuscripts submitted to us very carefully, but if a book has promise, our editors work with the author to bring it up to our high standards. Thus, we avoid the pitfalls of the large publishers (who may reject an author unless he's a major celebrity) and of the self-publishers (who have the poor reputation of being willing to print anything and everything sent to them).

We may issue publishing contracts with offers of financial advances to authors who have been published and have already established their popularity.

We may issue publishing contracts to talented writers who have not been published before or become accomplished in their writing career, and this contract may request a one-time deposit of $880 that is returnable. The purpose of this returnable deposit is to ensure long-term cooperation with a talented but possibly undisciplined new author.

This one-time, returnable deposit is returned to the author during the first royalty period after his/her book is published (when minimum sales have been met). This returnable deposit is less than most low-priced self-publishers that, unlike us, provide no investment in editing, book distribution, or custom art work and do not ever return any fees to their authors.

While this deposit does not begin to cover the initial expenses and the large investment involved in providing such services, experience has shown us that it does provide a strong incentive for our authors to complete all their assigned tasks in editing and book promotion.

Many authors that have selected the self-publishing route now regret it, as they find that you can't skip the traditional quality publisher services of editing, design, and distribution and still succeed.

We know this because a great many have submitted their manuscripts to us after working with such self-publishing companies.

There is good reason that most the popular authors today do not self-publish; it's because they understand the value of these traditional services and the importance of the publisher's good name and reputation for quality selection and their book's distribution network and to the media's acceptance for book publicity.
