"ABP has been such a blessing as my first
publisher. I wasn't familiar with the processes necessary to publish a book and
their Author's Guide was a huge help to me. My editor Christy and I got along
great and she did a wonderful job. I was greatly impressed with my cover. They
took my suggestions and ideas and turned it in to something I never could have
thought up on my own. It was such a great experience, I would recommend ABP to
any author."

"The marketing help ABP
has given me has been invaluable.
They
designed the book's eye-catching cover (in two Christmas colors!) and gave me
ideas for bookstore displays. ABP
provided me lists of book reviewers, and independent bookstores, gift shops
and others that might be interested in my book.
They helped me draft letters to reviewers and booksellers and gave me
ideas for follow-up. ABP even
made arrangements for me to attend an independent booksellers convention.
The help ABP has given me would have cost thousands of dollars if I had
used a professional publicist, or thousands of hours if I had tried to do it
on my own.
As
far as the editing process goes, I like my editor because her comments and
suggestions truly make the manuscript better, rather than attempt to change my
writing style. And her comments
really are suggestions, allowing me to have the final say, which I consider
important. Her turnaround has generally been very quick, and I also appreciate
that.
Thanks American Book Publishing!"

"OPERATIONS-
American Book Publishing selected our book for publication, even though
we are a couple of first time, unknown authors.
American Book
Publishing Author's Guide walked us through each step of the process and
provided a detailed, and professional basis for our personal understanding of
the publication process.
EDITING-
American Book
Publishing matched us with the perfect editor for our book.
The whole editing process transformed our initial manuscript into a
polished book that we had, only dimly, envisioned at the beginning of our
project.
DESIGN-
It has been said that "you can't judge a book by its cover".
American
Book Publishing Design Department doesn't subscribe to that theory.
The Design Department uses a unique process to capture the author's
ideas regarding the cover design and builds upon those ideas to create a book
cover that is perfectly suited to the book's content and theme.
PRODUCTION-
The process of actually turning our manuscript into a book was
accomplished with vigor by the Production Department. We had a marketing
opportunity that American
Book Publishing recognized and made every effort to meet every request we
made to them.
American
Book Publishing
even
constructed a personalized shipping program for our book that resulted in the
book being delivered to a critical customer well ahead of an important
deadline.
MARKETING-
Constantly refreshed updates from the Book Marketing Department of
American Book Publishing
has insured that our book received the maximum media and professional book
reviewer coverage. The Marketing
Department worked with us to hone our sales plan into an efficient, and
inexpensive package. We further
enjoyed the direct, personal attention of the Director of the Marketing
Department."

"My experience with American Book
Publishing has been most enlightening. As an author working with a
professional editor for the first time I really enjoyed my experience.
My editor Angela Hayes turned out to be a
great fit, as she knew something about farm life since she lives on a small
farm. This was important since the subject matter in Bull Justice has a lot
to do with the dairy industry. Angela was a great help in suggesting ways to
improve the manuscript from end to end. She was very in tune to what the
story is about and how we needed to get to a satisfactory finish.
She also was instrumental and very helpful
in the design of the cover since she understood what a dairy bull is
supposed to look like."

“Many
new authors dream of the opportunity to actually write and produce a book
worthy of publishing. While ideas
are never in short supply, verbalizing these into a concise package that can
be produced into an actual book is certainly more that mere authorship.
The American-Book.com editing process and staff demonstrate a high degree
of professionalism. From project
management to creative input, all of my tasks/deliverables were clear and the
results made significantly better due to the collaboration. I am thankful for
having had the chance to work with your team."

"It’s hard to know
where to begin to describe the incredible experience it is to work with ABP.
I suppose the best place to start is with the beginning. Jean-Marie and I had
a story that was entrusted to us by a force that was beyond our combined
imaginations, and that it was time to bring it forward in today’s turbulent
times. I searched for a publisher to whom this book could be entrusted. I
found ABP, much like you the reader, through the Internet.
It was their
guidelines of picking only stories that would rate as a G movie that attracted
us... It was effortless to consummate the business transaction,
unlike any other business dealing I had ever experienced. The contract was
very fair and the terms…well, for the first time I didn’t have to negotiate.
Never having written
a novel, I always thought the edit process would be horrific. However,
working with Linda Cólón, the assigned editor, the process was an
extraordinary adventure in discovering a better writer within myself. Areas,
I knew myself need work, but didn’t know exactly how to address, she would
illuminate a path of possibilities. Linda’s insights added another level of
depth and magic to the story. ABP’s editor was like having a partner who
strove as hard as you did as author to make the book exceptional.
The cover design was
the next milestone. I had a vague idea what it should convey. Jana Rade
transformed a vague concept into a magical visual piece of art. Not even in
my imagination, and I have a vivid one, could I have pictured the simplistic
elegance with which she capture the essence of innocence embodied in child’s
simple quest.
Working with
everyone at ABP was perhaps the best business and relationship experience I’ve
ever had. Any author accepted by ABP should truly feel fortunate.
In short, working
with ABP was extraordinary. I hope
to continue to have a long relationship, because there is no other publisher I
would ever want to work with."

"As a
first time book writer I had some serious reservations about being able to
find a publisher who would not only be willing to publish my book but would
respect my approach to the topic and how I wanted the material presented.
I found such a publisher in ABP. Professionalism
is the word that describes everything they do.
The guidelines (almost 50 pages) to a new author at first seemed
overwhelming but as I read them I realized how much time and experience had
gone into developing each and every one of these guidelines.
After all they are meant to help us as writers to avoid the many
pitfalls we can fall into because of our inexperience.
My biggest dread was being assigned an editor.
I thought this person would have their own ideas about my ideas and how
my stories could be presented better or at least differently.
Not so. My editor was
perfectly clear on her job as being to help me to clarify what I was saying so
that it would be clear to others. She
often questioned what I was trying to say and sometimes challenged my thought
process but always in the spirit of making it better.
When my book is published there will not be one extra word in it that
doesn’t have to be there. What better compliment can you pay to an editor
than that. I was also concerned
about the cover because I had a definite idea about how I wanted that done.
I submitted my idea and it was well received – they liked the
simplicity of it. But I was asked
if I would like one of their artists to see if it could be improved.
I was sure it couldn’t be improved but agreed to let someone take a
crack at it. I was amazed.
They exceeded my wildest expectations and came up with a much improved
cover. It has been an absolute
delight dealing with everyone at ABP."

"Working with the professionals at American Book Publishing is an
ongoing learning experience. The men and women in the editing, design, production, and marketing departments are teachers as well
as mentors. I have the distinct feeling that if I need to go back and ask questions
from my assigned editor, she would gladly accommodate me. This helpful attitude permeates throughout ABP.
I have learned more about the writing/publishing world than I ever
learned from other "writer friendly" sites. These dedicated people have also become internet friends. It's nice to know that there's always
someone I can turn to for advice. Please notice that I am writing in the present tense; my adventure as an author, I believe, is just beginning."

"As for ABP's services in relation to me:
Editing 'Culture Shock!' with Leticia Gomez was a real pleasure. Not only did she perform greatly, frequently being right on target, but she was also always available. I felt I was working with a highly dependable professional who took the time to answer the many question I had.
J. Rade did a tremendous job on the front cover. The way
she blended the different concepts highlighted in the book into something altogether funny and
mysterious is -to put it simply- brilliant.
Overall, ABP has been a great team to work with. Always reliable, always friendly. Thank you ABP!"

"My editor Lou Belcher did a wonderful job of helping me trim
my manuscript in some places, and build it in others. She not only helped me
polish my novel, she helped me to become a more focused, effective writer in
the process. Mynderd Vosloo, together with Jana Rade and the rest of the
design staff, created a cover that beautifully captured the spirit of the
story.
They worked hard to ensure that the cover was not only eye-catching, but a
reflection of the story I wanted to tell. The finished product was everything
I'd hoped for.
I'd also like to tell you that tomorrow will mark the one year anniversary of
the day I signed my ABP contract. During this year, I have frequently been
impressed by the skilled, professional way in which my manuscript has been
handled. My editor, Lou Belcher, has been phenomenal--I've told her more than
once that she not only edited my book, she helped me to become a better
writer. I am proud to be associated with ABP, and I wanted to express my
gratitude to you and to the ABP team. I look forward to the exciting changes

"Working with the staff of American Book

"I found the editing process to be several things;
a learning experience, an open dialogue and debate, and humbling. My editor

by far the best part

"Through the years, there have been tens of
thousands of books written that no one ever read. It's not that these books
weren't worthy of being published, the problem is that there was no support
network in place to take the work from a dream to a reality. Absent a team of
people working together, the task of writing, designing, publishing and
marketing a book would be all but impossible.
Working with the professionals at American Book Publishing for the last year
has been a real education. Through their efforts, the process of editing,
design and layout has been made easy. I never expected to have the amount of
input and control that they gave me. They worked hand in hand with me all the

decision that was
made. The job of writing a book is huge, the job of bringing it to press is
even more involved. Working with a team like the folks at American Book

"It was a great pleasure to have Ms. Louise Belcher of American Book Publishing (ABP) edit my book FAILED GRADE: The Corporatization and Decline of Higher Education in America. Ms. Belcher did an outstanding job for ABP and me! She viewed her role not as one solely concerned with economy of language and appropriate grammar/punctuation but as a fully concerned and important participant in the message of the book and its potential reflection on ABP. In this regard, she challenged some of my assumptions and asked for their justification. She did this in a very open, direct and timely manner but certainly not an adversarial one. I greatly respected her opinions and judgment and can truthfully say that the book was very significantly improved because of her efforts under the aegis of ABP.
Ms. Jana Rade was in charge of the design of my book’s cover. I was clearly amazed with the artistic quality of the cover and the fact that she and her staff had truly captured the essence of my book’s message. The design group at ABP are very talented people.

"I
was a professional editor (Associated Press) for enough years to recognize a
good, objective news editor when I work with one.
For that reason I was initially apprehensive about the editorial
expertise of
anyone assigned to work with me on something as subjective as fiction.
Would they know what they're doing? Would
they be confrontational and obstinate? Would
they communicate well? Could they
rationalize their
instructions/suggestions? In short, would they be a heavy handed word butcher?
Or would they be a real contributing co-worker any writer would
welcome? The editor assigned to me
(Lou Belcher) was a cut well above the ordinary.
She has been thoroughly professional and knowledgeable in her approach
to shaping and directing the flow of my book.
I trusted her right away and never regretted it; never once found fault
with her work or the manner in which she performed it.
Everything she did had a reason
- - a good reason. The cover
designer is a blessing. They
obviously understood the mood I felt the cover should convey to properly
represent
the book. When I first saw the
cover of
Postoffice
Street
I was stunned.
I'm glad I was alone with my first impressions, my feelings of how beautifully
crafted was the cover. Literally,
everyone who has seen it has first expressed to me the beauty and drama of the
cover -- truly an
art work! If, indeed, a book may
be judged by its cover then I am already in the winner's circle thanks to the
talent of this remarkable designer."

"I was very fortunate to have Allan Macpherson as my editor. He was fair, objective, and non-dogmatic in handling my manuscript, and made excellent suggestions to improve the writing. We both wanted to work on the manuscript intensely but efficiently. He checked his e-mail night and day, and I did the same. We finished the editing in a matter of a few weeks. He also told me every step of the way what would happen next. I appreciate Allan's meticulous work and his professionalism very much.
Design services: Jana Rade's coordination of the work on my cover was exemplary. I was pleased by the way she helped me approach the design of the cover and show her what I wanted. By the time Chris Krupinski's preliminary sketches came through, it was easy for me to decide on one. The final cover really does capture the setting and emotional tone of the novel, through its masterful use of design, color, and even fonts. I've looked at a lot of book covers and many are poorly illustrated and often unrelated to the book's content. I'll be proud to market my beautiful book.
I've visited a bookstore web site and everything looks very attractive. I'm working on the business plan right now and will send it to Jan
(in the Book Marketing Department) as soon as I can.
Thanks again for graciously allowing me to resubmit my manuscript in January, and then notifying me in the nicest and most exciting of terms that it was accepted. I'm very happy to be working with ABP."

"In the editing, production, design and
production process I have learned many things. I am reminded that my book
deals with the learning process, and motivational methods to this learning
process. I have had opportunities during this process with ABP to utilize
subtitles, wording and paragraph arrangements to help organize the various
paths and routes we follow on our learning journey. I have had learners
reveal to me that during their learning process, to see if they agree or
disagree with my book, have found and explained to me many times, that
during this process they were motivated to look things up, research, study
and investigate. In this process they discovered many other things during
this process of learning that they did not previously know or understand.
They were motivated to find ... and thusly learn in the process.
Once again I am reminded that my book is designed to motivate one to the
learning process... My second learning guide is soon to come!"

"I am thrilled with
American Book Publishing. The editor and artistic staff assigned to my
book put their hearts and souls into making it a fabulous read and into
designing an inspiring cover.
I
found that the editor assigned to my book was sincerely interested in the
book's message, not just in wordsmithing its content. As a result, my
editor worked tirelessly to ensure the book resonated with readers and
remained focused on providing real help with relationship issues.
Over
the ensuing months, I came to appreciate my editor as a colleague and trusted
friend. My editor was someone who believed in my book and worked to make
it great, not just good.
It
was clear from the very start that we had a common goal that transcended the
so-called "normal" rigors associated with the editing process.
The next step involved designing the book's cover. When the
artistic staff took over, my experience was equally as favorable.
American
Book Publishing consistently sought my input in designing the book's cover
and the artistic staff worked to ensure that I was pleased with its look
and feel during every phase of the design process. In taking great care
and consideration in deciding on the best possible color, art work and theme
for the book cover, I again realized that American Book Publishing wanted the
best cover possible for me and for the reader.
Lastly,
the marketing process patiently worked with me to ensure that an effective
marketing strategy was in place. Marketing the book was important to American
Book Publishing because their marketing team was sincerely interested in
ensuring that those who would benefit from reading my book would know that it
was available.
Marketing
the book's message in the hope of helping the reader rather than solely to
make money was the strategy employed by American Book Publishing. Looking
back, it is little wonder that I found the entire experience so thoroughly
rewarding. I sincerely hope we can work together to bring a second book
to market soon."
