"I am currently in the process of having my second book published by American and am happy to say that my experience with American Book Publishing has been both a learning experience and a distinct pleasure. As a first time author I was treated with respect and understanding by a staff of patient and knowledgeable professionals who took me step-by-step through the publishing process in a timely and organized manner while always having the time and courtesy to answer all my questions and concerns quickly and honestly.

I can’t say enough about my editor, Dora Dalton. She is brilliant, understanding of my style, respectful of my vision and dedicated to helping make my books the best they can be.

And their talented design team was even flexible enough to allow me to paint my own covers and worked with me to make them even better, turning my paintings into covers to be proud of. I am just beginning to work with their marketing team but have so far been provided a wealth of information and advice on the best ways for me to get my work out to the public.

The faith, commitment, understanding and professionalism shown to me by American Book Publishing has been truly outstanding."

"I cannot tell you how delighted but at the same time overwhelmed I am at the prospect of seeing my book in print and available to the general public.

The past thirteen months working with your publishing house has been a learning tool as well as a most delightful experience throughout the process.
My introduction and welcome by you, through the skilled and very patient editors, the creativity of the design department and their willingness to accept my input in the design of the book cover; then on  to the very capable Ms. Blackwell in production, all leaves me with a good feeling that I am working with professionals.

I suppose I could have done this by myself Nathan, but I doubt very much that the end result would be worthy and as lasting as this has turned out to be.
My present contact is with Jeffrey in promotions and I feel ahead of the game already with him as my guide.  Your staff Nathan, is courteous and professional and my encounter has been extremely satisfying.
It was very easy to work with all the individuals {whom I cannot all list} that participated in getting
this book from manuscript to a published work.
Nathan I am taking a gamble that this book will be successful and that my next manuscript
will find favor with your firm."

"I was so shocked that ABP was willing to take a chance on me, an unpublished writer, that I immediately thought it was some kind of scam or a disguised vanity press that you hear so much about.

But three intense edits later, not to mention copyedits, cover design, cover design corrections, and lists of media contacts that seem to go on forever, it is clear that this is a serious press that is doing its best to put out quality work.  The deposit I paid is only a fraction of the cost of the work they have put into the book."

"The process of preparing a manuscript for publication has been a difficult yet rewarding experience. The difficulty, at least for me, has been in the amount of focus, concentration and dedication that is required to read over and over again, and then reread not only my own work, but the inputs, ideas, suggestions and edits that the editor made and not get so totally tired of it that you would wish it all away. My editor has helped immensely. I have realized that his professionalism and experience has only served to make my work that much better. So rather than becoming tired of the long process of editing, I looked forward to see how his ideas, modifications, and insight made my work that much better. Another thing I appreciated was that he respected my desires not to change some things that I felt were important to maintain the integrity of the book. I feel that the respect that my editor and I have for one another comes as a result of our commitments to turn out the best product possible.

Another important factor in this process was how the cover designers wanted my vision of the cover so that they could then create that vision using their gifts, talents and skills. During all of this creative process I believe the author begins to have a vision of how this will all turn out; in my case the designers were able to tap into that vision and create it. This same creative genius was also realized in the creation of my website. I have had nothing but praise for both the design of the cover and beauty of the website. They compliment each other in every way."

"I am impressed with American Book Publishing.  I was directed through the publishing process of my first book with ease--any question I had was quickly responded to.  My editor, Vicki Schmitz was wonderful to work with.  Her comments on improving my manuscript were handled positively--I never felt discouraged, only encouraged to do better and improve on an already good story."

"American Book Publishing gives new authors a chance to enter the publishing world looking like a professional. Their editors guide you, designers dazzle you, their production department is second to none and the marketing rivals the big houses in New York. Other than being a relative of someone famous, I can't think of a better way to enter the publishing world."

"I was really lucky to have received Eden for my editor. It's scary sending your manuscript into a publisher and letting someone else share in part of your work or your life in print. Like sending your baby out all alone into the world for the first time.

But Eden helped calm the jitters. She began working with me to clean the story up to make it an excellent read and kept in touch throughout the entire process. I can't express my thanks enough to her for the great job!

The next step was to dress the story in the proper attire to greet the world with a look saying; read me! The design people were very patient in working together to produce a cover far better than I ever imagined on the book. Thanks to all of them, especially Jana. This was followed by the book being quickly sent to a well organized production area, a rapid journey to the printer for the finishing touches, and an introduction to marketing, to help announce  the book to readers all around the world. My thanks again to everyone. "

"I have been pleased by the professionalism of my editor. Not only has she been able to correct proof errors, but she has also guided my writing so that I have become a better author.

I also have been pleased with the way the designers were able to come up with a cover that was not only pleasing to the eye , but that represented the heart of the story."

"American Book Publishing is fantastic!  My expectations of the service I would receive when I first submitted my novel have been greatly surpassed.  My editor did such a great job in making my novel polished that I have requested her service on my second novel.  The cover design is exactly as I had pictured it in my mind since I first started writing.  I couldn't be happier.

Now that I've moved into the marketing phase I am seeing the truth that the real work comes after the book is finished.  Jan Judd in marketing has helped me put together a plan that I know will get my book national recognition.  If I had to sum up my experience with American Book Publishing it would have to be "professional."  No two ways about it, ABP is a first class publisher."

"American Book Publishing assembled a remarkable book for me. I was very involved with every aspect of the publishing process. In the editing of the text, I was allowed to accept or reject every change that was made by my editor, who was extremely professional and helpful, explaining why some changes needed made, and advising me on dialog and wording.

During the editing of the text the cover was being designed, and again I was involved totally. I was asked to give a description of my vision of the cover. I was astonished when the designers sent me a photo file of my new cover. It was exactly what I had described and envisioned.

Even after I thought my part of this process was done, I was sent the final copy edit of the novel and asked to read it and look for any errors, and to inform them of where these errors were in the text. The cover, too, required my final okay of all the text on the back. I had found a few errors in both text and cover, and  ABP was swift to correct them. I have worked with other publishing houses, but ABP has been paramount in the publishing process, giving the author the final word in his/her own work. Thanks to all the professional people at American Book Publishing."

"The design department were extremely helpful. The Marketing Department, Jan Judd, has been very helpful, giving me any information I have asked for to help me sort through this maze of having a book published. ... I have had some high points in my dealings with ABP...I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your help from the very beginning of the process. Thanks to Allan as well (editing department).  I have also just had my first local press interview that will appear in that newspaper this week. I have a television spot booked for taping in February and talk-back radio lined up for the summer. Thank you again, and I look forward to excitement to holding my dream in my hands."

"Editing: It was for me a rewarding experience working with Mr. Jeff Alexander. He proved to be a very

professional and accommodating editor. Mr. Alexander gives meaning to the term EDITOR.

Design: I am pleased with the design selected for my book. I always felt in good hands when communicating with Jana. She is the best.

Product Marketing: I am pleased thus far with the direction in which Jan is taking my book. She is very helpful in answering my questions, and I look forward to working with her in the months ahead."

Overall, my impression of the ABP system is positive... The system is designed around efficiency and occupies the space it claims to occupy: many steps up from vanity publishers, but a place where good authors can get published when the mainstream publishers won't take a chance. ABP appealed to me because that was the situation I was in. The Glentarry Diet was almost good enough for a mainstream publisher before I started working with ABP. I had a well-known and successful literary agent who felt it was very marketable. Unfortunately she was wrong and after a number of publishers declined it, she dropped the project.

I have been very pleased so far with my editor, copy editor and cover designer at ABP. But even though my agent had approved the copy, my ABP editor and copy editor found a number of areas for improvement and several typos. We went through about three rounds of editing and one round with the copy editor and made changes each time. In the end, there was some problem with version control, because when I got the proofs, there were a number of typos. This may have been my fault. The biggest problem was missing punctuation. I am still a little worried that I didn't catch them all. However, the production people were very cooperative as we went through yet another round of editing, or proof reading really.

ABP is I think a "family friendly" publisher that does not want anything they publish to be more than a "PG 13" rating if it were a movie. That was fine with me, but initially my cover idea, which incorporated a bottle of whisky and a girl in a micro-mini skirt, caused some concerns. The cover designer did as asked, but management felt it was over the line of good taste. I was pleased that we compromised in such a way that I got 90% of what I wanted. The cover designer did many different versions and worked very hard.

"Before I ran across American Book Publishing on the internet, I was frustrated and edging dangerously close to giving up on my dream of publication. I had gotten close so many times before only to be let down in the end that I was tired of trying. But American Book Publishing changed all of that. They believed in my work and gave me a chance. And I fully intend to make the most of the opportunity. My experience with American Book has been exemplary. The editing staff worked with me in a caring and courteous manner, always there for me, but encouraging me to make the decisions, and going the extra mile to make sure I was happy with the finished product. The design team listened to my ideas and distilled that with their own vision and came up with a killer cover. I've already received numerous compliments on the design, and I couldn't be happier with it. Jan in the Book Marketing Department has been very supportive and helpful as well. My whole experience with American Book Publishing has been positive and rewarding. Thanks for the opportunity."

"American Book Publishing is far ahead of their times in my mind in terms of publishing, especially to a burgeoning author that has found the publishing world to be a rather daunting place. They are incredibly friendly and their staff is always willing to help you as long as possible, helping you through the processes of editing, design and all the way until final publication and completed product. They were accommodating at every turn and made sure that despite the usual structure of publishing and the time it takes, they were there to help and guide you as an author through.

The design of the cover was a simple process that satisfactory in every way, they asked what I wanted to see and then they help to bring it to life, creating an image that would draw potential buyers. Their marketing department helped to guide, even a newfound author such as myself, in the correct direction to help promote my novel and also the steps and structure necessary to create a profitable and comfortable plan of action to get my book into the public’s eye.

All in all I would recommend American Book Publishing to an author that might find the publishing world overwhelming and the prospect of not being able to find a publisher that understands your vision of your novel the way you wish it to be. Give American Publishing a chance and you will be surprised the lengths they go to facilitate and make your writings dreams a reality."

"Over-all, I am completely satisfied with ABP service. IMO opinion, the content editor (Matthew Farrell) and the copyeditor (Amy) were outstanding. Ditto for the jacket cover design. Everyone involved has exhibited not only professionalism but also the utmost courtesy . . . that is something that cannot readily be put into words but it is something that, never-the-less, is greatly appreciated by this "novice" author.

In addition, I have corresponding with Jeff regarding my marketing scheme and his advice has been invaluable."

"I would like to comment on my book manuscript Psychological First Aid. I first submitted my manuscript to about a dozen different publishing houses.

I received many offers to publish the book, and I also received offers from more than a few agents. I had to make the decision that was right for me and my book.

I choose American Book Publishing and I was not disappointed. I was treated very well by the editors who were very quick and precise in their work. The design department was more than favorable, transforming my idea for graphics on the cover, binding, and back cover into a work of art. I am moving on into the marketing phase of my book publishing phase, I am very excited to be working with American Book Publishing."

"Now that I have completed the difficult but rewarding task of publishing my first novel, the best endorsement that I can give the author services provided by American Book Publishing is to state that I have no intention of publishing with anyone else. The process has not been problem-free (nor should any author expect it to be); but it is precisely the manner in which Allan Macpherson, (my editor), the (Director of Operations), and Jana Rade (my cover designer) have dealt with those problems that has won my loyalty.

Allan, particularly, has my full confidence. He took no shortcuts. His guidance was thorough and honest. When I required additional explanation or information, he gave it to me. When there was disagreement, there was also understanding and prompt resolution. I never doubted that he shared my goal to produce the best novel possible. I am eager to get underway with him as the editor of my second book. Jana Rade was likewise responsive during the cover design process. Visual details clear in my mind but difficult to describe in language were worked out through a careful progression of give and take and trial and error until my expectations were realized. Should my novels become successful enough to merit the attention of the large publishing houses and the marketing power they wield, I will not be tempted. The promised high professional standards that attracted me to ABP have been met, and I look forward to a long and fruitful association."

"I have been writing since 1993. I too was leery of finding a company that wouldn't promote my works. Anyone can publish a novel, but few put the time, effort, and money into advertising. Before I signed with American Book, I traveled the Internet and checked them out. I work for the Department of Justice and ran a check on the company (I was burned once before). I have been totally satisfied with their efforts."

"As an author who has never published a full length novel, I was unusually pleased with the editing process with American Book Publishing company. Errors, unclear passages and poorly assembled thoughts were kindly and thoroughly reviewed allowing me to make final decisions about the content and expressions in Accommodation. When a misunderstanding in the printing of my book occurred, the staff at ABP went out of their way to help me still meet my original deadlines. The marketing staff worked with me to present my books effectively at a book fair where they arranged a booth for ABP authors.

One of the most fulfilling aspects about working with ABP is the time they take to teach novices like me about the publishing process. The staff is generously patient with me when I jumble timelines and expect miracles. I am genuinely looking forward to continuing my relationship with ABP to finalize and publish my other book drafts."
