Getting Published

The following is a direct quote from a recent e-mail. It is typical of a great number of e-mails we receive every day. We have asked the author for permission to use it, just as she wrote it, below:  

“While surfing the Net for book publishers, I came across information about your company. I have never had a book published although I have been trying for many years. As I’m sure you already know, most publishers don’t accept unsolicited manuscripts.  

“I was told to get an agent. I immediately hired an agent but all he did was take my money. He did absolutely nothing.  

“I looked into self-publishing, but I was shocked by the outrageous price certain companies wanted to print the books. To print one book, a particular company wanted $5,000.00! Needless to say, I bowed out and began looking again.  

“Other places were $99.00, but they gave no help at all.  

“I am looking for someone who can give a new writer a much needed break. I write Christian fiction. Can you help me? I will be waiting to hear from you. Thank you very much.”
